How Steam login works

SteamMeet uses Steam OpenID.

When you sign in:

  1. SteamMeet sends you to Steam Community.
  2. You sign in on Steam's website, not on SteamMeet.
  3. Steam sends SteamMeet a confirmation containing your SteamID.
  4. SteamMeet uses that SteamID to create or access your SteamMeet account.

SteamMeet never receives your Steam password.

What to check before signing in

Only enter your Steam credentials when the browser address bar shows steamcommunity.com or another official Steam/Valve domain.

What SteamMeet receives

Steam OpenID verifies your SteamID64. SteamMeet may then use Steam Web API data, where available through your Steam privacy settings, to show your display name, avatar, games, and friends for scheduling.
